Photography is a freedom that allows you to emphasise the mood a particular subject or landscape resonates.

Photographs of family members tend to be cherished with great love and affection.  Mother's & Fathers taking pictures of their child's firsts steps or their sons first driving lesson. These are memories that we like to keep however instead of creating memories photography allows you to begin to create art.

Take a moment to answer the following questions.

What inspires you?

What scenes or subjects yank your thoughts?

What does photography really mean to you?

What colours shape your mood?

Does music strengthen your thoughts?

There are no rules to creativity so do not let anybody tell you any different. Who was the first person to eat meat, take milk from a cow make a pot out of clay. Every pioneer is abnormal because they are doing something out of the ordinary. This either spurs people on or frightens people off.   Which one are you?

Photography comes with quite a lot of its own technicalities which may put some budding photographers off!  Don't let this happen to you, go with what inspires you and take a shot of it - if you don't like it you can delete it but if you love it then share it!

Digital photography versus film is quite a typical argument closely followed by the computerised editing of an image. Should this be allowed? Should the image be perfect once the shutter has closed? Is editing for those that don't really know how to use their camera.

I think we should let others squabble while we get down to unlocking our creativity in any way that we feel fit.

Understanding the capabilities that your camera can present will allow you to see before you the image that you wish to create. By having these options available to you, you will tend to see things in a completely different way.  Take the scene below I knew exactly what I was going to do with this scene. I especially liked the colours of the buildings and the parasols out in the street. I new that if I took the image in RAW I could increase the brightness of each colour.

I then chose the cut out filter within Photoshop to finish off the magic. I must say that I was very pleased with the outcome.  A Contemporary image of a picturesque town in Wales.
